Consistently ranked among the best in the US, Clearwater Beach lives up to its name with exceptionally clear, calm, and shallow waters perfect for families. Its soft, white sand is ideal for building castles or simply sinking your toes into. Beyond the pristine shoreline, a vibrant promenade offers entertainment, dining, and shops, with the iconic Pier 60 hosting a daily sunset festival. Here we are at Clearwater Beach. We rented an umbrella and chairs for midday.

2. Coronado Beach, California: Golden Sands and Grandeur

Just across the bridge from San Diego, Coronado Beach shimmers with unique golden flecks (thanks to mica in the sand!). This wide, family-friendly beach offers calm waves and a magnificent backdrop of the historic Hotel del Coronado. It's a fantastic spot for sunbathing, sand sculpting, and enjoying breathtaking Pacific sunsets. Plus, there's a dog-friendly section for your furry companions on the North end of the beach. We took this photo closer to the Hotel Del Coronado at sunset. The dunes behind us actually spell out CORONADO in large letters that can be seen from the air.
